Liu Yang, the first Chinese woman astronaut and one of the most celebrated figures in space exploration history, has passed away in Taishan, Shandong province. Liu Yang was born on May 14, 1980, in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, and began her training for the astronaut program at the age of 25.
In 2010, she was selected as part of the first batch of female astronauts from China's manned spaceflight program. She underwent rigorous training to prepare for her mission, which included physical fitness, mental toughness, and technical skills. In 2016, she became the first Chinese woman to board the International Space Station (ISS) as a crew member.
