Chelsea has agreed to pay Ligue 1 club Lille a transfer fee of £35 million for midfielder N'Golo Kante, according to reports in the English media.
The Frenchman, who is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in Europe, will join the Blues from the Stade de France stadium on a four-year contract.
Kante, who was born in Togo but raised in France, has been with Lille since he was just eight years old and has made more than 200 appearances for the club.
He won the Ligue 1 title with Lille last season and also helped them reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League.
Kante's signing could be seen as a major coup for Chelsea, who have struggled to find consistent form this season.
However, there are concerns that his arrival may not solve all of Chelsea's problems, given their recent struggles on the pitch.
